Categories : #NiceInYourPocket, published on : 7/24/26

No, you don't need a car to visit Nice from Hôtel de France. Located at 58 Rue de France, in the heart of the Carré d'Or district, just 150 metres from the sea and the Promenade des Anglais, right behind the Negresco and the Musée Palais Masséna, our hotel puts you in the heart of a city centre that's very easy to explore on foot, with the Alsace-Lorraine tram stop close by to get around the whole city easily.

Coming by car anyway?

No problem: Hôtel de France has a partnership with the Palais Masséna car park, located at 29 Promenade des Anglais, 4 minutes' walk from the hotel. If you buy your ticket through us, you'll benefit from a preferential rate of €23 instead of €28 for 24 hours' parking. Coming from the east, take exit 50 Promenade des Anglais (Nice Centre); from the west, exit 54.

The tram, just steps from the hotel

The Alsace-Lorraine tram stop, close to the hotel, makes it easy to get around the city. From the airport, tram line 2 (direction Port Lympia) connects directly to the Alsace-Lorraine stop in 30 minutes. The ticket costs €10 if purchased at the airport kiosk, or €1.70 otherwise (plus a €2 deposit for the rechargeable card). AMMI tip: download the Ligne d'Azur app as soon as you arrive to pay the €1.70 rate directly.

The bus, to reach the train station

To get to the train station, it's an 18-minute walk, or take Bus 12 (€1.70): 5 minutes from the 'gare Thiers' stop to 'Gambetta/Dante', 2 minutes' walk from the hotel.

Electric bikes and scooters

Shared electric bikes are available across the whole city via the Lime and Pony apps, along with shared electric scooters via the Yego app. A cycle path runs the whole length of the Promenade des Anglais, just steps from the hotel.

Exploring on foot from Hôtel de France

Located in the heart of the Carré d'Or district, just 150 metres from the sea and the Promenade des Anglais, right behind the Negresco and the Musée Palais Masséna and its gardens, Hôtel de France puts you steps away from the restaurants and bars of the "Zone Piétonne" as well as well-known shopping names amid the Belle Époque architecture. Vieux-Nice and its narrow streets are also within walking distance. Enough to enjoy the best of Nice without ever needing a car.

Day trips to Monaco, Cannes and Èze

The train station is less than 20 minutes' walk from the hotel (or 18 minutes, see above), making it easy to reach the picturesque surrounding towns of Monaco, Èze or Cannes. Our concierge team can also arrange excursions or guided tours to Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Saint-Tropez or the most beautiful Provençal villages through our specialist partners — we recommend booking in advance, as these outings are often fully booked in high season.

Hôtel de France tip: the hotel is located just 30 minutes from Monaco, ideal for attending the Monaco Grand Prix without the traffic and parking hassle that comes with this event.
